Blind Palate: Can you tell the difference?

Journey to the heart of rum’s origins with this lecture that will introduce you to some of the fundamentals of Barbados Rum as well as challenge your palate in discerning the differences between multiple spirits categories – with a special focus on additives. Brandon Cummins, Director of Education with Altamar Brands, and representing Foursquare, will guide you through the rich history of the distillery and the practices that have helped lead to being named Rum Producer of the Year 9 years in a row, as well as a multitude of other recognitions. All while being contextualized into different spirits production methods seen globally. But this session isn’t just about learning—it’s about experiencing. Brandon will lead a blind tasting through various spirits categories, some with additives and some without, some to help define different production practices and methods – with a special focus towards Rum and Tequila. Can you tell the difference? We will also be tasting through a selection of the latest offerings from Foursquare including Probitas Rum, R.L. Seale’s 12 Year Barbados Rum, and offerings from the Exceptional Cask Selections Line. Be sure to come prepared, as this is sure to be an engaging and educational session!
